Introduction Cut

betting and gambling. While that may sound a little narrow in fact it
encompasses quite a lot, see below for examples.

What
are we looking for? It
is important for potential contributors to think a bit outside the box
when looking through their existing imagery. It is worth remembering that
sports betting and gambling covers quite a large area, some examples are
provided below:
Sports that people
bet on such as Horse racing, Soccer, NFL, Basketball, Tennis, Cricket,
Formula 1, Dog Racing, Golf, Rugby etc. So images such as horses jumping,
a basketball hoop, a golf ball close to the hole are all of interest.

happy/sad (having won/lost)
Money (including
all different currencies)
Lottery-related
images and Bingo
Locations (e.g.
Bookies, Las Vegas)
Games of fun such
as domino's
Chips, cards, dice,
roulette, dealers and everything else found in a casino

Property
and Model release If
your images include people or non public property you will most likely
require signed model and/or property release forms in order to make them
available for commercial use. If you do not have model or property release
the images can still be used for editorial use (for example images to
support text in newspapers, magazines, etc.) but this clearly limits the
usefulness and potential sales.
For any images supplied
that contain people or non public buildings please provide a separate
document stating whether you have in your possession the required release(s).
Please be aware that
if you claim that you have a model/property release when you do not, then
you risk litigation.
Contributors should
seek their own advice on model and property release, however general guidelines
are included below:
Model
Release: Required
for any person in the shot who is identifiable in anyway. This includes
silhouettes, sport players, crowd scenes and body parts.
Click
here for an example model release form in pdf format
Property
release: The following
types of building do not require release, anything else does:
Public buildings,
such as Government buildings, public schools.
Locations with
no identifiable features
Building (s) in
an image whose central focus is not these buildings. For example landscapes
and skylines
A Monument or historic
home may be exempt, the best cause of action is to check with Property
owner.
A photograph of a
property/landmarks/logo may require a signed property release if it is
to be used for commercial purposes. If in doubt remove all identifiable
logos and trademarks from your images.
